Oliver Waterfield of Fenton, 12, along with the Fenton Dance Academy,
recently competed at the Dance USA National Finals in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The dancers competed for four days and won many awards.
On the last day of competition, Oliver was competing for the Junior Mr.
Dance USA title and won, achieving a platinum award for his solo tap
routine "Boom Shake the Room," choreographed by Chelsea Carter.
This capped a successful dance year for Oliver, particularly with this
routine as he achieved a platinum award each time he performed it along
with a Future Star Award and also was selected at the Regional Dance USA
competition to be part of their National Dance Team who got to dance at
a local baseball game in Myrtle Beach.
Oliver's younger sister, Anabell, 10, was also competing in Myrtle Beach
and came home with several platinum awards. They both take classes at
the Fenton Dance Academy, which is the competition side of the Fenton
School of Dance, who recently opened a second location in Holly known as
The Dance Extension.
Oliver and Anabell thank studio director Susan Carter for making their
success possible.
