Dancers from the Fenton Dance Academy were auditioning this week for CBS's Star Search.

"I received a call to audition this week in Troy," said Susan Carter, instructor. "This was through professional organizations and competitions of which the academy is a member."
At the "International Dance Challenge," which took place March 8 in Detroit, Fenton Dance Academy dancers took nine gold medals and a platinum medal.
The platinum was give to the "majors" team (16-19 years old) for a musical theatre dance to "Our Guys."
"The intermediate team (9-11 years old) was selected for the Entertainment Challenge, as was the "Production Company." Both groups then performed their dances again, competing against five other selected routines of the day.
A jazz routine to "Read My Mind" took an overall first place. The junior team was awarded the "Future Rockettes Award."
Melanie Williams, a dancer with the senior team, was picked out of several dances in which she performed in group routines and given an award for consistent technical ability, terrific performance skills and a 1,000-watt smile.
