Twinkle Tots, 2-3 years old
An introduction to dance with the emphasis on developing motor skills, rhythm and creative movement.
Pre-Ballet 1, 3.5 to 4.5 years old
Pre-Ballet 2, 4.5 to 5.5 years old
Our Pre-Ballet classes are full of fun but still provide structure. We focus on eye and foot coordination and learning to get along with others (teamwork). Our young students learn gross motor skills (skipping and jumping), musicality, rhythm, stretching, and start ballet positions of the feet and learn basic French terminology.
Ballet, 7 years old and up
An introduction to beginning ballet positions and steps as part of our Early Childhood Development Program. A continuation of Pre-Dance, it promotes memory retention and performance skills.
Our beginning ballet classes a combination of Russian and Cecchetti (Italian) methods. The emphasis is on learning good technique as well as freedom of movement, early on. After a few years of study, certain students show an enthusiasm and ability to study more seriously. At this time, they may begin to study to take their ballet exam (Cecchetti Method). We encourage our students to work toward this goal, however it is not mandatory and in some cases, no indicated.
Pointe work (or toe shoes) is another goal all female dancers work toward. The decision to place a student “en pointe” rests entirely with the teacher.
Ability, age, length of time studying and physical factors are taken into consideration. Usually dancers begin pointe work between the ages of 11 and 13.
