Longest Dance History in Fenton
Founded in Fenton by dancer, entrepreneur, and dreamer Susan Carter, Fenton School of Dance & Academy has been a keystone in our community, empowering students through movement, since 1981. In 2013, FSD&A opened a state-of-the-art, multi-studio facility in historic Downtown Fenton where Susan and her staff continue to provide exceptional training to Fenton-area youth.
Age-Appropriate, Award-Winning Choreography
FSD&A's innovative choreography consistently produces National and Regional Champions in the competitive dance circuits. Our choreography, costuming, and music is all selected with age-appropriateness in mind, and with an emphasis on inclusiveness.
Large, State-of-the-Art Facility
FSD&A boasts one of the largest studio spaces in our area, conveniently located in the heart of downtown Fenton. With 5 classrooms and 2 large lobbies for parents and their kiddos, there's plenty of room for everyone.

Our 7-person adult teaching staff has over 100 years of combined teaching experience. We are a proud member of the Cecchetti Council of America and Dance Master of America, and offer everything from regimented Cecchetti ballet instruction to improv.
Dance Scholarships
Our focus has always been on bringing the joy of dance to as many people as possible and creating a welcoming dance family that supports and encourages one another. For over 25 years FSD&A has awarded dance scholarships to both academy and classic (recreational) students who demonstrate professionalism, hard work, and dedication. These scholarships are awarded several times a year, and range from between $100 and $3,000.
Community Service
We're about more than just dance. FSD&A partners with, engages, and raises funds for several nonprofits in our area that are doing amazing work in our community, From 1994-2008, FSD&A donated 100% of the proceeds from our annual Christmas show to the Fenton Area Resources and Referral Network (F.A.R.R.), and we regularly secure donations for Snuggle Sacks of Fenton, MI. We don't just train dancers. We help build engaged members of our community.
Dance Family
For over 40 years we have been fortunate enough to build and experience the most amazing dance family our area has to offer. We welcome students from all walks of life, and celebrate the diverse talents and experiences of everyone that walks through our doors. FSD&A fosters a loving environment for students to have fun, make new friends, and grow. We have a zero-tolerance policy against bullying, name-calling, physical or verbal aggression, discrimination, hate speech, and harassment, and have maintained our commitment to creating the most supportive, encouraging, and accepting environment for our dancers and their families since 1981.
Graduates and alumni of FSD&A are always welcome home, and are free to take class at no charge - anytime.
